What I’m Wearing: Audrey Leighton Kessinger Ruffle Dress, Pollini Boots & Reiss Bag.
This PFW, I had the honour of collaborating with iconic Italian brand, Pollini – famous for their incredible shoes. They collaborated with the genius Nicholas Kirkwood for their S/S 14 collection – and held a very pretty presentation at the Four Seasons on Georges V. I wore Pollini (naturally, ofcourse), drank copious amounts of orange juice, lusted after every pair of platforms and even got to spend some time with Nicholas himself (obviously, we had to get a photo together too, check out that last one!). I’m not usually very good at talking to designers, mostly because I am a little awe-struck – but he was so easy to talk to.We browsed the collection while he gave me some interesting insights into his inspirations and processes behind his shoes. He delved into the brand’s archives and used their designs from the 70s as a starting point for his creations. He also told me, and I found this fascinating, that he wanted to stray away from the traditional “sexy Italian shoe” -and instead make something a little more avant-garde, which he did beautifully. The collection was the perfect combination of quirky but charming, abstract yet practical – honestly there wasn’t a single pair I wouldn’t like to call my own. I was totally digging the men’s shoes too. Huge thanks to Pollini and Nicholas Kirkwood himself for such a lovely event!
