Another outfit I wore in Rome, I have grown very fond of pairing shorts with blazers  in a deceiving effort to suit up and look more co-ordinated. These shorts were far too big for me but their bagginess was ideal for all the ricotta and foccacia I was eating on an almost hourly basis.  I even had a dribble or two of tomato on my top but swiftly photoshopped those out. Like I said, a faux suit is precisely what a goof like me needs, some forced sophistication can so often be effective. I am almost certain you have a blazer and a bottom (be it shorts, a skirt or trousers) in the same colour – I suggest wearing them together. You will feel like a lady, I promise. And as for the sunglasses, a real Italian style I saw everyone wearing last summer when I was travelling around Cinque Terre, so I bought myself the Dolce & Gabbana version and vowed to wear them everytime I found myself in Italy. So I did. And I like to think that with my tanned skin and brown hair, I fit right in.  Spanish is so similar to Italian, I can pronounce phrases exceptionally well, a trickery of accents that led to Romans talking full speed at me as I nodded in confusion. But despite the tomato stains and the lack of language,  I ran around pretending to be Italian in the right sunglasses but a fake suit, a typical wannabe dupe…
