I live for the projects that call to action all the skills I’m proud to have developed through blogging, collaborations that begin with my blogging influence but ultimately ride on much more. So here I am, filling the roles of blogger, model, photographer, stylist and photo-retoucher too, at the time these photos were shot, I was dealing with a very strange looking, peeling like potato skin sunburn, which I bid farewell to via the paint and clone tools in photoshop. Keeping it real, always. I’d tell you girls everything if I could get away with it. So I guess I should also confess that I can’t even stand up on a skateboard or really do anything that requires my entire body to balance on four wheels, but seeing as my boyfriend’s boards are always in some corner of my apartment, I couldn’t resist grabbing one as a ‘cool-factor’ prop. Call me lame if needs be. But above all, shooting Off Dutee’s entire new collection lookbook was an incredibly fun collaboration. As a gym fanatic with a monochrome preference, I salute the brand for their beautiful colour palette ; which doesn’t sway over to horribly bright or at worst neon colours like so much sportswear unfortunately does. Dusty pink, black and white, dark, moody grey. These are colours I embrace. They are good and lovely and flattering for us all. Offdutee is the chic, subtle option in a sea of garish, too tight gym ensembles. My big bottom slipped damn comfortably into their lycra, definitely facilitating my faux skatboarding tricks, as well as all the other over-dramatized poses I faithfully favour. Kudos to their bodycon dresses too which made me feel sexier than I have in a long while. How good it is to feel good – and yet so many brands seem incapable of offering me that basic comfort. Confidence empowers, absolute confidence empowers absolutely; which is shameless hijacking of a very famous quote, but so be it. Off Dutee knows the body of a real women and I salute them for designing clothes that allow us to feel as damn good as we should.
