Karen Millen has been a brand close to my heart for a long time now, ever since my best friend at University worked the shop floor in one of their boutiques- this year, I hosted an event with them in Paris in February and over the next couple of months, I will be working alongside them more closely for the new AW13 season. But girls, Karen Millen is changing – evolving in terms of style, visual identity but also developing a strong focus on the girl wearing the clothes. I love this concept, placing importance on personal style and the personality reflected in the simple act of getting dressed – is such a beautiful way of celebrating clothes, don’t you think? And for their latest campaign, in collaboration with David Bailey (fashion photography legend, by the way) they created a series of portraits that capture the diverse personalities of four new model faces – over the next month, a feature film will be made live every week on each of their girls.
In their transformation, Karen Millen aimed to create a platform where both high-profile and up-and-coming talents could collaborate to propel future faces into the next stage of their careers. In terms of the clothes, Karen Millen have reworked their classic couture-inspired aesthetic into a more modern collection, it feels fresher to me. Long gone are the days when they were known chiefly for their dresses, now there is something for every woman at Karen Millen. And not to mention, the most beautiful, butter soft leather jackets – urging you all to go try on one! For all the updates on their new campaign, be sure to watch their films which will be released every week this month here. And stay tuned, later this month I will be collaborating with Karen Millen on a project here in Paris.
