I made a top ten list of all the things I love come winter. There are obvious preferences like enormous lattes or burnt tones like maroon and copper. Naps feel nicer at this time of year and so easy to slip into come early evening just before the sun sets. Often I’ll fling a large scarf over my shoulders instead of wearing a bra, it’s easier to hide under layers. They feel safer. I like collared shirts or turtlenecks underneath blazers and wool hats feel like the roof I often need over my head. I spent a very long summer sweating to stay cool but with the temperature dropping, I am happy my aim has switched to keeping cosy. I feel invigorated and far more lively in this crisper air. How wonderful it is to enjoy clothes for their primary purpose; warmth. I find winter clothes to be incredibly comforting. They offer shelter in the way a floaty summer dress never could, a sort of sartorial sanctuary exists in their thickness. I like that the most.
