a rosier palette: river island studio s/s

Monday, May 29, 2017

Well it’s not often I veer from my predictable palette of white, cream and dark neutrals, but when I do cheat with other colours, I go all out. River Island Studio collections have faithfully impressed me for a few seasons now, and so I happily waltzed around in these rosier shades for a day. You are already aware of my affection for a pink suit, but one with fluttery, flared sleeves? Worthy of Florence Welch herself I tell you, who by the way is absolutely both my style and book icon. I will never comprehend why people are so invested in the Kartrashians when there are souls like her to swoon over instead. Anyway, I digress, back to the clothes, specifically, the dress ; tightly tied at the waist is my game this season, curve enhancing ; flattering in a way that will surprise you (try it!). Both ensembles are tailored yet draped, an almost impossible antithesis but one that the Spanish summer heat basically demands, if you want to look a) as unsweaty as possible b) seasonally chic. I’m not exagerrating when I tell you that both of those are massive accomplishments in Barcelona; I already have the air conditioning cranked up and it’s not long now until the sidewalks feel like the sun herself. Other seasonal updates? I invested in an adorable hand fan, ice cube trays and mosquito repellent. Oh it’s begun, summer…. and here I am fluttering away in flared sleeve, dresses that sway and an absolutely annoying grin on my face.

what i’m wearing: river island studio dark red jacquard wrap midi dress, navy gingham diamante trim ballet pumps , river island studio pink frill sleeve blazer, cream frill bandeau crop top, river island studio pink flippy shorts, white croc pointed backless mules & tortoiseshell oversized sunglasses
