WHAT I’M WEARING: LINDSAY LOHAN X LAVISH ALICE WHITE PLEATED CHIFFON HEM MINI DRESS
Lindsay Lohan collaborated with Lavish Alice on a capsule clothing collection, all of which I wholeheartedly covet for myself. Starting with this dress, nestled next to all the other whites I have zealously accumulated this season. I have no shame in saying that I have always liked Lindsay Lohan, she took the form of my first girl crush in Parent Trap – and that crush sort of stuck around, the first ones always do. Then came the likes of Freaky Friday and Mean Girls, and those movies sealed the deal for me as a Lohan fan. A few years ago I found myself sitting at the table next to her in a night club in Paris and she still seemed cool to me.
Cool in that she really didn’t give a hoot what anyone really thought of her as long as she was having fun. The media picked on her in the same way a school bully does, relentlessly and shamelessly antagonizing her – and sure she’s probably made some mistakes, but who hasn’t and who cares. I like her as an actress, what she chooses to do in her free time doesn’t really interest me. I’m quite tired of the media insisting we see every talented person as a role model when it’s rarely a title they ever aimed for themselves. Even I as a lowly blogger find myself frustrated in that people expect me to uphold some sort of golden girl behaviour, when in fact that is so far from what I really am. I’m not advocating messing up your life – I am simply saying that we have all done stupid things, both me, you and Lohan herself. It should never overshadow our creativity nor work. And just like her movies from way back when, her latest creative endeavor with Lavish Alice is one I salute her for – acting aside, I always liked what she wore too. So here’s me wearing her, I suppose.
