Colder Weather, Trenched & a Perspective Shift

WHAT I’M WEARING: HOBBS OF LONDON TRENCH, CHI CHI LONDON LEILA DRESS & CHI CHI LONDON ELODIE NAVY COURT HEELS

Optimized-4 (3)

I woke up early this morning, bleary eyed but dashing across my street to the supermarket for coffee supplies. I shivered, it was chilly outside. This is big news here in Barcelona, the city’s inhabitants are figuratively fist punching the air in relief that the oppressive summer heat has broken away into autumn. Not quite wool coat weather but indisputably trench appropriate. Which as you know is my favourite species of outwear from the classic to the cropped to the gilet version, in camel, beige or even a navy or black. September always sees me sliding somewhat gleefully into my trenches of all kinds or hanging off my shoulders as I marvel at gulping hot coffee without sweating.

And today’s ensemble naturally includes the classic but also a curious baroque-meets-oriental printed dress in a navy that quite perfectly matches my pointed court shoes. Oh all these dark sultry colours, they are deliciously tempting after a summer of whites and lights. In fact, life in itself feels flavorful these days, I just spent 2 days filming my biggest project to date in Paris followed by some photoshoots that will collect and showcase here in no time. And last week, after a solid 72 hours of intense work, I took myself to lunch at Laduree – where I was too distracted to eat but feasted instead on how lucky I feel these days. For a girl who typically rolls her eyes or sighs at life, this postivity, just like the shift in weather is a refreshing development.
