I prefer my hair tied up tight. During my adolescence, I was told by kids that I had terrible hair and so it would faithfully be scraped back, out of the way of the mountain of books I was usually leaning over. While I actually quite like my hair now, I usually feel better without it hanging around my face. This could be because straighteners aside, I am absolutely devoid of styling skills. You would have no idea how much time I save in just pulling my bedhead up into a bun. I often marvel at the time my friends put into their hair, so much so, I am certain they could list it as a hobby. I wish I had the energy. I don’t even dye my hair. I cut it twice a year. That is about it. I do quietly spend embarrassing amounts on quality shampoo and conditioner however. Oh I don’t know, should I be more adventurous with my hair? Considering at 27, I have long banished all my adolescent anxieties, it seems maybe I should. My friend Haleigh has hair of Rapunzel proportions, whenever we find ourselves sleeping under the same roof (which has been many times over the years) she will pull out her hot wands and like magic will twist my locks into something I could never do myself. But that aside,  I’ve just typed an entire paragraph on hair. That is horrendous. I will stop and vow to do something about my hair soon, yes I will. As soon as I read all the books on my shelves, run that marathon I’ve been meaning to and adopt another cluster of cute canines. Yes, after I do all that, I will find time for this mane atop my head. Until then, all I can offer is my only styling tip; to just not care.
