Armour is how I approaching my ensembles as of late, not against cold, no, there isn’t much of that in Barcelona right now. But of other things clouding my mind, I’m distracted these days, dreaming of things like weekends in Italy or naps at 3 pm or men I meet on dating apps (not tinder, oh no, please darling that app is a terrible one). I need a kick, a physical one, I tried the metaphorical way; it did not nothing but catapault me further into this haze I wake up in and cosy into every night. Physically speaking, I chose black and leather and chunky boots soft in suede but mighty like a weapon. Yes, sometimes, all we women can do is dress the part and hope our mind is tricked into filling the role. I guess, what is really happening here is the beginning of another year, whereby I put crazy pressure on myself to somehow make it different than the last. Throwing myself into new things and new people like a boomerang, so here I am, gliding through the sky, seeing all these new things but forgetting to do what I must do every year and that is the four letter word we all know called WORK. I suppose I could also blame the wind, which has been sweeping through the streets faithfully for about a week now. A gale force it is not but fierce enough to make me float. Now this might sound insane but whenever the wind comes and stays for a while, changes like puzzle pieces attach themselves to my life. I believe the forces of nature, so yes, I suppose I could blame Mother Earth herself, or perhaps more respectfully, just follow her along, see where she takes me and abandon work for a little bit? Probably not, instead, I’ll strap on the armor and struggle through, giving time to both work and this wind that keeps me moving towards the new things I know this year deserves to know. And I will get back to Italy, that is the most important whim the wind has sent me up into. Yes, Italy, where some of my greatest friends live and home to the greatest dessert too: cannolli.
