I acquired the blonder hair, I already have the tan, brand new crisp white clothes are folded and waiting in my wardrobe; officially I’m ready for spring. I feel like the bored kid in the back, nudging winter along, asking ‘are we there yet?’ too often, all the while strumming my fingers against my knees and looking out wistfully for the warmer days and the sunnier skies to finally arrive. Now, I do live in Barcelona and the winter has been laughably mild but you see, I adore spring. The most exciting things always happen in spring and there are all those wonderful firsts of the year: like the first swim in the sea, finally asking for extra ice in drinks and wondering about bikinis. Its not hot enough for me to be awkwardly sweating all the time but appropriate to wear flirty things like tailored shorts or flippy skirts and lots of white. I can laugh as blazers slip off my bare shoulders and I’m certain my smile looks better in the April-May sun. Icy prosecco on Sundays at midday in outdoor cafes is enough of a reason to adore spring. So here I am waiting, practically gasping for the seasons to fold over and switch. I’ve never ever been a winter girl, in fact, I’d give up Christmas for an extra week of summer days. My love of the sun is what ultimately chased me away from places like France and the UK, I grew up under the rays and without them, I just don’t feel okay. When the skies look sad, I feel sad – simply seeing clouds makes me cold. So yes, here’s my call for Spring, I hope the weather can hear me – I have so much planned for this season, like eating all kinds of pasta in Italy, opening a new business and finding ways to spend as much time as possible on strangers’ boats. I want more freckles and I would like to sunbathe on rooftops, I also want to find myself on a bicycle on a mountain somewhere with my boyfriend. And with that said, here are my first almost spring, seasonal whites by a lovely brand called Wallis, worn in celebration of their new Sapphire collection. I’ll take this launch as a sign that spring will be here soon, for sure, I’m sure.
