It has long been a dream of mine to wear backless pieces, but the majority of them do not cater to a bigger bust, or any bust of any kind at all actually. So I took matters into my own hands and designed my own backless sweater with a wonderfully invisible, built in bra. The entire process took months and and briefly at various points it looked impossible construction-wise. However it came together eventually – and we launched the Audrey Leighton backless sweater twice in limited edition runs this year. I’ve never been prouder. It sold out twice. So much of fashion still feels exclusive to women who are slim. I gave up on finding a pair of jeans that will fit in both my waist and thigh regions. Perhaps I will tackle this with another design at a later date, but for now I thought I’d share these photos of the picnic shoot we dreamt up for my sweater launch a few months back. It was a beautiful evening and one I will look back fondly forever. These photographs were shot at the country home I grew up in, out of shot is my father sitting in a chair helping us where he could, assisting in getting the dogs to sit still for the photos. And after we finished, we all watched what was a beautiful sun setting on the mountain view I’ve known since I was 12.
