I adore Oasis, I prefer it to Topshop, I always have. Why? Because the brand doesn’t bend, They don’t flex around trends. There are no faddish frivolities on the shelves in their shops. There are no stripper inspired platform heels or glittery bodycon or slogan tees. You all know how much I detest a slogan on a shirt. Words are for our mouths not for our clothes. I mean, if I ever found a slogan tee with say, a Wordsworth quote on it, I might change my mind. But it’s all slang or sarcasm or nonsensical words strung together. Anyway, classic but faithfully retro inspired is the verse I would sing should anyone ask for an impromptu song about the brand. Which no one has requested as of yet, shocking, I know. Their jeans fit like paint, fancy shoes without the blisters and a selection of turtlenecks unbeatable in my humble opinion. If I haven’t already encouraged you to embrace the brand, I will more harshly insist right now.

I’ll start with this coat, a coat I have been looking for all my life. Does that sound dramatic? Yes, it does but I was dramatically excited when I spotted it online. If at least one of you doesn’t ask for this beauty for Christmas, I’ll be sad certainly but mostly, I’ll be worried about you. Worried because it is the greatest coat. From the burnt-orange-almost-brown suede to the fuzzy collar, which essentially acts as a built in scarf. I’m not being paid to ‘blogger hype’ this coat, I just genuinely love it a lot.  I spent hours upon hours in the grimy vintage stores of Paris looking for one just like this for many years. I once came very close but it was an unfortunate shade of green rather than the russet tones of this one. So here’s to this coat, here’s to Oasis and here’s to the rare occasion I devote an entire paragraph to a clothing item.
