Denim and not in the form of the  ragged cut-offs I’ve been wearing all summer, yes it’s time to start thinking about the longer variety. When it comes to clothing, not all that much thought or planning goes into my outfits, if I like it, I wear it has been my enduring mantra for a long time now. But jeans?  My legs are solid and my derriere is a rather substantial ‘asset’ or so I prefer to call it – which means that the majority of denim looks terrible or feels terrible. I’m not complaining, I am proud of my muscular legs and I’ll even happily take the hassles of jean squeezing that come with my runner’s thighs. But, it does require planning – jeans don’t just slip right onto my body, as a very active teenager with the same legs I have now, I never wore denim because it just made me feel uncomfortable and constricted. But at 27, I know what will work and what will simply be torture. And so my denim recommendations come from a very serious struggle, well as serious as a a pair of jeans not fitting can be, which isn’t that serious at all, but it’s a hassle I’m sure you’ve had to tackle too. And I adore these, high waisted and in a size smaller than I thought, which is always, inexplicably a good feeling for females ; when a size down fits, it’s a silent, smug relief. Don’t deny it. Anyway, Wallis just launched these, they are called the Erin; they are jeggings but still look tailored and yes, I slipped into them. Typically a pair of jeans requires a squat position and an embarrassing amount of ‘hoisting’ which is a word that sounds as disagreeable as the action it describes. But on they went and off Biba and I went for a walk; I’ve worn them 3 times since they arrived and tomorrow, I’ll be hopping on a plane wearing them too. Really, I love them, a rare affirmation when it comes to denim. I think Biba does too, all the stretch means I can run and jump after her, she now walks without a leash which means she feels as free as I do in these jeans.
